The Living and the Dead (2006)
Auch im Jahr 2005 bewohnt die Familie Brocklebank immer noch ihr inzwischen im Verfall befindliches Herrenhaus Longleigh. Der leicht zurückgebliebene, überbehütete Sohn James ist abhängig von der Kontrolle seines Vaters Donald, ebenso wie die bettlägerige, todkranke Mutter Nancy auf seine Hilfe angewiesen ist. Als Donald nach London reist, um dort nach alternativen Heilungsmethoden für Nancy zu forschen, sind Mutter und Sohn sich selbst überlassen. Bald entwickelt James ein krankhaftes Verantwortungsbewusstsein für seine Mutter.
