Sam besitzt die Gabe, in die Vergangenheit zu reisen. Er nutzt diese, um der Polizei bei der Aufklärung von Mordfällen zu helfen, indem er zu Ort und Zeit des Geschehens reist und als stiller Zeuge später den Mörder identifizieren kann. Dies alles klappt ganz gut, bis er eines Tages den Auftrag bekommt, den Mord an seiner ehemaligen Freundin Rebecca aufzuklären. Trotz guter Vorsätze greift er in das Geschehen ein und entfacht somit Geschehnisse, welche ihn immer tiefer in einen Strudel aus Mord und Gewalt hineinziehen.
