Wild at Heart (1990)
Lula Pace und Sailor Ripley lieben sich so intensiv, wie sich zwei Menschen nur lieben können. Aber das Märchen von der harmonischen Zweisamkeit stößt bei Lulas Mutter Marietta Fortune auf Ablehnung. Deswegen machen sich die beiden aus dem Staub, als Sailor aus dem Gefängnis freikommt. Der Detektiv Johnnie Farragut ist ihnen im Auftrag Mariettas ebenso auf den Fersen wie der Gangster Marcello Santos. Während Farragut Lula und Sailor finden soll, plant Santos, Sailor umzubringen. Denn Marietta hat Angst, dass Sailor sie mit eventuell vorhandenem Wissen aus der Vergangenheit ins Gefängnis bringen könnte. Während die Verfolger dem Liebespaar immer näher kommen, lernen Sailor und Lula den dubiosen Bobby Peru kennen, der sie in scheinbar sichere, kriminelle Machenschaften verwickelt.
