Nicolas Cage (*7. Januar 1964 in Long Beach, Kalifornien) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Filmproduzent und Oscar-Preisträger. Er zählt zu den vielseitigsten Darstellern Hollywoods und ist bekannt für seine intensiven und oft exzentrischen Rollen. Cage wurde als Nicolas Kim Coppola geboren und ist der Neffe des berühmten Regisseurs Francis Ford Coppola. Um sich von seiner Familie abzugrenzen, änderte er seinen Namen und begann seine Schauspielkarriere in den frühen 1980er Jahren. Sein Leinwanddebüt gab er 1982 in Ich glaub’, ich steh’ im Wald. Seinen Durchbruch hatte Cage mit Filmen wie Mondsüchtig (1987) und Wild at Heart (1990). 1996 gewann er den Oscar als Bester Hauptdarsteller für seine Rolle als alkoholkranker Drehbuchautor in Leaving Las Vegas. In den späten 1990er Jahren etablierte er sich als Action-Star mit Blockbustern wie The Rock – Fels der Entscheidung (1996), Con Air (1997) und Face/Off – Im Körper des Feindes (1997). In den 2000er Jahren spielte Cage in erfolgreichen Filmen wie Das Vermächtnis der Tempelritter (2004) und dessen Fortsetzung Das Vermächtnis des geheimen Buches (2007). Er übernahm auch die Hauptrolle in Ghost Rider (2007) und Knowing – Die Zukunft endet jetzt (2009). Nach einer Phase finanzieller Schwierigkeiten drehte Cage zahlreiche Independent- und Genrefilme, darunter Mandy (2018), Pig (2021) und Massive Talent (2022), in dem er sich selbst spielte. In den letzten Jahren war er verstärkt in großen Franchise-Produktionen tätig, darunter als Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: A New Universe (2018) und in der kommenden Live-Action-Serie Spider-Noir (2026). Neben seiner Filmkarriere ist Cage für seine exzentrische Persönlichkeit und seine Sammelleidenschaft bekannt. Er besitzt eine große Sammlung seltener Comics und war kurzzeitig Besitzer eines Schlosses in Deutschland.
