Faustrecht der Großstadt (1950)
Der New Yorker Detektiv Mark Dixon steht für seine äußerst rüden Methoden bei Vorgesetzten und Kollegen in der Kritik. Er ist blind vor Hass auf Kriminelle, bis er bei der Jagd nach einem Mörder selbst zu einem wird: Bei der Auseinandersetzung mit Verdächtigen verschuldet er den Tod eines Unbeteiligten. Fortan muss er die eigene Tat vertuschen, bis es ihm gelingt, den gesuchten Mörder zu fassen.
