Von Kindesbeinen an waren der impulsive Enzo und der grüblerische Jacques Konkurrenten. Beide verbindet die Leidenschaft zum Tauchen. Nun ist Enzo Weltmeister und will als letzten Triumph auch noch den Sieg über Jacques. Ein ums andere Mal wechselt der Weltrekord im Freitauchen. Beide werden so sehr von der Tiefe angezogen, daß eine Frau keine Chance hat. Unter Wasser erfüllt sich ihr Schicksal.
