Luc Besson ist ein französischer Filmregisseur, Autor und Produzent, der für seine hochvisuellen Thriller- und Actionfilme bekannt ist. Besson wurde für zahlreiche Preise und Auszeichnungen der ausländischen Presse nominiert und gewonnen und wird oft als Erfinder der so genannten "Cinema du Look" (französische Filmbewegung) im französischen Film angesehen. Der in Paris geborene Besson verbrachte seine Kindheit mit seinen Eltern auf Reisen durch Europa und vielen anderen Ländern.
