Am 16. Juli 1945 wurde in den USA an einem Ort namens "Trinity" zum ersten Mal eine Plutoniumbombe gezündet. Sie erzeugte eine gewaltig Energie, vergleichbar mit 18,6 Kilotonnen TNT. Das war der Beginn des Atomzeitalters. Dies ist die mehrfach preisgekrönte Dokumentation über die Entwicklung der Atombombe. Regisseur Peter Kuran hat in fast vierjähriger Arbeit spektakuläres und zum Teil noch nie zuvor veröffentlichtes Material aus den Geheimarchiven der US-Regierung zusammen getragen. Der imposante Soundtrack wurde eigens für diese Dokumentation komponiert und vom Moskauer Symphonie Orchester eingespielt. "Trinity & Beyond" ist eine durch prominente Zeitzeugen fundierte, beeindruckende und informative Reise in die Welt dieser todbringenden, aber dennoch faszinierenden Schöpfung.
