Der junge Engländer Tristan hält um die Hand von Victoria an. Er verspricht, ihr eine Sternschnuppe zu Füßen zu legen. Dazu bricht er in das durch eine Mauer getrennte magische Königreich Stormhold auf und findet den gefallenen Stern Yvaine. Doch die Hexe Lamia will ihr Herz und Thronfolger Septimus ihren Schmuck. Bei der abenteuerlichen Flucht vor den Verfolgern sind Gefährten rar gesät. Nur der tuntige Captain Shakespeare ist auf ihrer Seite.
