Rudderless (2014)
Als Sam (Billy Crudup), der Leiter einer Werbeagentur, seinen Sohn bei einem Unfall verliert, bricht eine Welt für ihn zusammen. Trauernd zieht er sich auf ein Segelboot zurück, auf dem er seinen Kummer mit Alkohol lindern will. Als seine Frau Emily (Felicity Huffman) ihm eine Kiste mit Demotapes und Songtexten seines verstorbenen Sohnes gibt, entschließt er sich dazu, als Musiker aufzutreten. Mit Quentin (Anton Yelchin), den er in einer Bar kennenlernt, gründet er bald darauf eine Band, in der Hoffnung, dem Tod seines Sohnes auf diese Weise einen Sinn abzugewinnen. Doch der Status des musikalischen Amateurs, der auf ihm als branchenfremdem Quereinsteiger lastet, bringt ihn ins Grübeln und er fragt sich, ob die neu formierte Band nicht auch ohne ihn auskommt...
