Spanglish (2004)
Die schöne Flor und ihre 12-jährige Tochter immigrieren von Mexiko nach Los Angeles, um sich ein besseres Leben aufzubauen. Bei John und Deborah Clasky tritt sie einen Job als Haushälterin an. Doch nicht alles klappt so, wie es sich Flor vorgestellt hat. Die Sprache ist fremd, die Kultur unterschiedlich und ihre neuen Arbeitgeber irgendwie anders. Denn das wohlhabende Ehepaar pflegt einen recht exzentrischen Lebensstil. Während John als Starkoch in Kalofornien hohe Anerkennung genießt und obendrein der perfekte Vater und Ehemann ist, hat seine neurotische Frau mit der typischen Unausgefülltheit einer reichen Hausfrau zu kämpfen. Gleichzeitig führt sie Flor ein ihr bislang unbekanntes, extravargantes Leben vor. Hinzu kommt, dass Flors Tochter gerade mächtig pubertiert und sie somit ständig auf Trab hält. So ist für turublente Zeiten im Leben beider Familien gesorgt...
