Adam Sandler, 1966 in New York geboren, ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Drehbuchautor und Produzent. Nach einigen erfolgreichen Jahren als Mitglied der Saturday-Night-Life–Crew hatte Sandler 1995 mit Billy Madison – Ein Chaot zum Verlieben seinen Durchbruch als Filmschauspieler. Mit Happy Gilmore, Eine Hochzeit zum Verlieben und Waterboy – Der Typ mit dem Wasserschaden konnte sich Adam Sandler Ende der 90er Jahre in Hollywood etablieren. Seine Komödien werden fast ausnahmslos zu großen Erfolgen, können bei der Kritik jedoch nicht punkten. Der US-Amerikaner versucht sich im neuen Jahrtausend in anspruchsvolleren Filmen wie Punch-Drunk Love oder Die Liebe in mir, die von der Kritik durchaus positiv aufgenommen werden. 1999 gründet Adam Sandler die Produktionsfirma Happy Madison Productions, die für viele seiner eigenen Filmhits zuständig ist.
