Für Spezialagent Andrew Nivens und sein Team war es nur Routine – schon wieder eine Meldung, daß irgendwo in einer Kleinstadt ein UFO gelandet ist. Zuerst wirkt alles wie ein Kinderscherz, doch dann… Wie eine Epidemie vermehrt und verbreitet sich das außerirdische Wesen in den Körpern der Menschen. Niemand ist mehr sicher, denn diese fremde Intelligenz will nur eines, die Weltmacht. Nivens muß schnell einen Weg finden, das Wesen zu vernichten, bevor es zu spät ist.
