Asphaltrennen (1971)
Ein frisierter 55er Chevy ist der Hauptdarsteller in Monte Hellmans Kult-Klassiker aller Autorennfilme. Mit ihm sind der Fahrer und sein Mechaniker unterwegs von einem Dragsterrennen zum nächsten. Gehalten wird nur zum Tanken, Essen oder für notwenige Reparaturen. Nach einem dieser Aufenthalte gesellt sich das Mädchen zu ihnen. Von nun an sind sie zu dritt. Als sie immer wieder mit dem Fahrer eines Pontiac GTO zusammentreffen, beschließen sie ihn zu einem neuen Rennen herauszufordern: Ein Überlandrennen quer durch die USA – der Preis für den Gewinner: Die Fahrzeugpapiere des Unterlegenen!
