Der Mann im grauen Flanell (1956)
Der Ex-Soldat und nun treusorgende Familienvater Tom Rath sieht sein Leben plötzlich zunehmend aus den Fugen geraten, als er, um seiner drängenden Frau und seinen Kindern einen besseren Lebensstil zu ermöglichen, den Job wechselt. Das bringt ihm mehr Geld, aber weniger Zeit für seine Familie und auch sonst gerät er langsam aber sicher in Schwierigkeiten, denn das Bild, das die ihn umgebenden Menschen von ihm haben, stimmt nicht mehr, der Tod seiner Großmutter bringt ihn in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten und zunehmend fühlt sich Tom von Erinnerungen aus dem 2.Weltkrieg verfolgt, in dem er offenbar sogar mit einer Italienerin ein Kind gezeugt hat
