Laos 1977. Der unerschrockene Journalist John Everingham schleust geheime Informationen über das durch die Militärs terrorisierte Land an die Weltpresse. Er setzt damit sein Leben aufs Spiel. Als der Chef des Nachrichtendienstes, General Kapler davon erfährt, schwört er den Spitzel zu finden. Da fällt sein Verdacht auf John, der sich als harmloser Fotograf ausgibt. Um ihn zu überführen, setzt er die verführerische Keo auf John an. Für den machtbesessenen Kapler ist die geheimnisvolle Inselschönheit sein Besitz, und als er sieht, daß sein Auftrag der Beginn einer stürmischen Liebesromanze ist, hat er dafür seine ganz persönliche Rache.
