Shot Caller (2017)
Nachdem Familienvater Jacob einen tödlichen Verkehrsunfall verschuldet hat, muss er ins Gefängnis. Sieben Jahre Haft stehen ihm bevor und die Gewalt im Knast lässt ihn beinahe verzweifeln. Also schließt er sich einer Gang an, die ihm innerhalb der Gefängnismauern Schutz vor den anderen Häftlingen garantiert. Doch diese Sicherheit hat ihren Preis - und der ist hoch. Als er nach Ablauf seiner Strafe wieder auf freien Fuß kommt, holt ihn seine Vergangenheit alsbald wieder ein, denn seine einstigen Beschützer fordern nun weitere Gefallen von ihm. Er soll eine rivalisierende Bande in den Straßen Südkaliforniens vernichten. Damit setzt ein knallharter Kampf ums Überleben ein, bei dem seine Familie zwischen die Fronten gerät...
