Der Wikingerhäuptling Hägar kommt nach einer langen Geschäftsreise nach Hause und muss schockiert feststellen, dass seit seiner Abwesenheit alles aus den Rudern gelaufen ist. Sein Sohn ist ein braver Junge, der sich nicht für Krieg und Kampf interessiert, seine Tochter ist noch nicht verlobt, will Kriegerin werden und ist in einen Versager verliebt. So kann es nicht weiter gehen. Hägar beschließt von nun an die Erziehung selbst in die Hand zu nehmen und macht damit die ganze Familie unglücklich.
