Wings of the Dove - Die Flügel der Taube (1997)
London 1910. Die temperamentvolle Kate Croy, die seit dem Tod ihrer Mutter bei ihrer reichen Tante Maude lebt, liebt den armen Journalisten Merton Densher. Weil sie aber durch diese unstandesgemäße Liaison ihr Erbe riskiert, plant sie, ihren Angebeteten mit ihrer reichen, aber todkranken amerikanischen Freundin Millie Theale zu verheiraten und ihn so später für sich selbst zu einer guten Partie zu machen. Gemeinsam bricht das Trio nach Venedig auf, wo Millie ihre letzten Lebenstage möglichst angenehm zu verbringen gedenkt…
