Mark wurde 1955 in Birmingham geboren und absolvierte seine Schauspielausbildung am Stratford College of FE bei Gordon Vallins, bevor er an der Birmingham School of Speech and Drama eine weitere Ausbildung machte. Nach einem Jahr verließ er diese jedoch, um 1974 mit Marius Goring als DSM auf Tournee zu gehen. Mark ist mit Annie verheiratet und lebt in Sussex.
