Ein Soldat steht im Regen (1963)
Eustis ist ein Junge vom Lande, der in der Armee dient, das aber eigentlich nur widerwillig. Er zählt die Tage, bis er endlich entlassen wird. Doch dann freundet er sich mit Master Sergeant Maxwell Slaughter an, der ihn unter seine Fittiche nimmt und beibringt was er in diesem Gewerbe wissen muss. Die beiden beflügeln einander. Eustis benötigt Maxwells Hilfe und Maxwell braucht Eustis' Draufgängertum, das ihn dazu zwingt, seine Komfortzone zu verlassen und sich mit seinem jungen Protege in zahlreiche Abenteuer zu stürzen...
