Gerade als Scotty (Dean Cameron) seine Freundin, seine Wohnung und seinen Job verloren hat, begegnet er auf einer Party Dana (Felicity Waterman), in die er sich sofort verliebt. Doch diese ist im Gegensatz zu ihm reich und liiert. Erst als er kurz darauf von dem Penner Gus (Pat Morita) eine Wunderlampe geschenkt bekommt, scheint sich seine Chance zu ergeben. Denn daraus steigt Jeannie (Ami Dolenz), die ihm jeden Wunsch erfüllen kann und mit deren Hilfe er nun versucht, seine Traumfrau von sich zu überzeugen - mit Traumvilla, Geld und Beziehungen. Alles läuft wunderbar, bis Jeannie sich in ihren Meister verliebt...
