Dean Cain (geboren als Dean George Tanaka; * 31. Juli 1966) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Seine Mutter, die Schauspielerin Sharon Thomas, heiratete seinen Adoptivvater, den Regisseur Christopher Cain, als Dean drei Jahre alt war. Obwohl er in Malibu aufwuchs und die Santa Monica High School besuchte, strebte er zunächst eine Karriere im Profi-Football an. Während seines Studiums in Princeton schloss er ein Geschichtsstudium ab, war zwei Jahre lang mit Brooke Shields liiert und stellte einen NCAA-Rekord für die meisten Interceptions in einer Saison auf. Nach einem Vertrag mit den Buffalo Bills beendete eine Knieverletzung seine Profikarriere, bevor sie richtig begonnen hatte. Obwohl er bereits in dem Film seines Vaters, „The Stone Boy“ (1984), mitgewirkt hatte, durchlief er den üblichen Weg über Werbespots und Fernsehrollen (unter anderem in „Beverly Hills, 90210“ (1990)), bevor ihm mit der Rolle des Superman/Clark Kent in der Serie „Lois & Clark: Die neuen Abenteuer von Superman“ (1993) der Durchbruch gelang.
