Call Jane (2022)
Chicago, 1968. Während die Stadt und die Nation am Rande eines gewalttätigen politischen Umsturzes stehen, führt die Hausfrau Joy mit ihrem Mann und ihrer Tochter ein gewöhnliches Leben in der Vorstadt. Doch Joys erneute Schwangerschaft führt sie unerwartet in einen lebensbedrohlichen Zustand. Sie muss sich mit einem medizinischen System und Ärzten auseinandersetzen, die nicht bereit sind, ihr zu helfen. Eine legale Abtreibung ist nicht möglich. Ihre Suche nach einer Lösung führt sie zu den „Janes“, einer geheimen Frauen-Organisation, die Joy eine sicherere Alternative anbieten – und damit nicht nur ihr Leben retten, sondern auch grundsätzlich verändern.
