Der 32. August auf Erden (1999)
Die 26-jährige Simone schläft am Steuer ihres Wagens ein und überlebt wie durch ein Wunder einen schweren Unfall. Entschlossen, ihr Leben zu ändern, gibt sie ihren Job als Model auf und will ein Kind. Simones bester Freund, der Dauerstudent Philippe, soll sie schwängern. Er willigt ein, allerdings unter der Bedingung, dass sie dazu in die Wüste reisen. So landen Simon und Philippe in Salt Lake City, doch damit ist ihre Reise noch lange nicht zu Ende. Denis Villeneuves Spielfilmdebüt ist zugleich existentialistische Komödie und surreales Road Movie.
