An American Pickle (2020)
Nachdem russische Kosaken ihr Dorf brutal überrannt haben, flüchten Herschel Greenbaum und seine Frau Sarah kurzerhand nach Amerika, um ein Leben in Frieden zu führen. Herschel arbeitet hier als Kammerjäger in einer Gurkenfabrik und kann von seinem Lohn für zwei Gräber auf einem jüdischen Friedhof sparen. Als sich Herschel mal wieder auf Rattenjagd befindet und dabei in ein Gurkenfass stürzt, wird die Fabrik geschlossen und Herschel in der Lauge eingelegt. Über 100 Jahre später erwacht Herschel mit Hilfe einer Drohne zum Leben und tritt auf seinen Urenkel Ben, der als AppProgrammierer arbeitet. Der Kulturschock ist vorprogrammiert und sorgt vor allem bei Ben für jede Menge neuer Probleme. Aber Familie kann man sich bekanntlich nicht aussuchen.
