In einem Land, in dem eine furchtbare Krankheit ihr Unwesen treibt, leben ein Mann namens Van und ein junges Mädchen namens Yuna. Als eine Salzmine von Wölfen angegriffen wird, schaffen es die beiden gerade so zu entkommen. Doch auch ein Leben auf dem Land ist ihnen nicht vergönnt. Der Mediziner Hossal glaubt, dass mit ihrem Blut der Krankheit ein Ende gesetzt werden könnte. Die beiden finden sich also in einer Situation wieder, die weit größer als all das ist, was sie sich je vorgestellt haben …
