Seit nun knapp 30 Jahren sind Maeve und Arnold Soames zufrieden verheiratet. Richtig gehört: zufrieden. Denn so richtig glücklich sind sie schon länger nicht mehr. Die Kinder sind aus dem Haus, haben ihr eigenes Leben und entließen die beiden in allzu vertraute Zweisamkeit. Die Ehe ist zu einer Gewohnheit geworden und lässt sich an den Kerzenständern abzählen, die die beiden jahrlich zum Hochzeitstag geschenkt bekommen. Was fehlt, ist das Knistern, gerne auch das von Erotik. Durch ein diesbezügliches Fachbuch aufmerksam geworden, bucht Maeve einen Paarberatungskurs beim Autor des Bestsellers, Dr. Bernie Feld. Mürrisch und wenig begeistert folgt Arnold seiner Gattin in ein Wochenende, das noch so manche Überraschung bereit hält…
