Während sie ihr Talent als Künstlerin ausbaut und mit diversen College-Aufsätzen sowie den passenden Bewerbungen jongliert, platzt auch noch die Liebe ohne Ankündigung in das überforderte Teenager-Leben. Ihre langjährige Schwärmerei für Sport-Ass Gabriella schlägt eine neue Wendung ein, als Paige ins Leichtathletik-Team ihrer Schule eintritt. Doch plötzlich taucht noch eine andere Person in Paiges Leben auf, die für Schemtterlinge im Bauch sorgt: Die bisher unscheinbare AJ weckt durch ihre sanfte und vertrauensvolle Art Paiges Aufmerksamkeit.
