Nachdem er 20 Jahre lang seine Strafe im Gefängnis abgesessen hat, will Foley definitiv nichts mehr mit seinem alten Gaunerleben zu tun haben. Er hatte die Haftstrafe absitzen müssen, da er bei einem aus dem Ruder gelaufenen Coup seinen Partner gezwungenermaßen erschießen musste. Das Gefängnis und seine Machenschaften auf der Straße haben Foley von seinen Freunden und seiner Familie getrennt. Doch der junge Nachtclubbesitzer Ethan, der voller krimineller Energie steckt, möchte Foley für einen erfolgversprechenden Betrug gewinnen. Eigentlich hat der Ex-Sträfling keine Lust wieder in das kriminelle Milieu einzusteigen, doch Ethan zieht die richtigen Fäden. Für den abgehalfterten Gangster gibt es eigentlich keinen Grund mehr morgens aufzustehen, bis er durch den Clubbesitzer Iris kennenlernt; ein schwierig zu durchschauendes Mädchen, das Foley von einem neuen Leben träumen lässt. .
