Harold Rowe „Hal“ Holbrook Jr. war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Holbrook absolvierte die Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Hier entwickelte er eine Ein-Mann-Show über Mark Twain, für die er 1966 mit dem Tony Award für den Besten Hauptdarsteller ausgezeichnet wurde. Holbrook zählte seit Jahrzehnten zu den bekannten amerikanischen Charakterdarstellern und trat in mehreren Filmklassikern in profilierten Nebenrollen auf. Einen seiner wichtigsten Auftritte hatte er 1976 in dem Watergate-Film Die Unbestechlichen als anonymer Informant Deep Throat. Holbrooks vielleicht bekannteste Rolle ist die des Geistlichen Father Malone, der im Horrorfilm The Fog – Nebel des Grauens (1980) die düstere Vergangenheit des Ortes Antonio Bay beschwört. Insgesamt war er seit Mitte der 1950er Jahre in mehr als 120 Film- und Fernsehproduktionen zu sehen.
