Richard Lane (28. Mai 1899 – 5. September 1982) war ein US-amerikanischer Fernsehsprecher und Schauspieler, der sich durch seine Kommentatorentätigkeit bei Wrestling- und Roller-Derby-Veranstaltungen auf KTLA-TV, hauptsächlich aus dem Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, einen Namen machte. Lane wurde 1899 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, als Sohn einer Bauernfamilie geboren. Schon früh zeigte er Talent für das Rezitieren von Gedichten und verschiedene Gesangs- und Tanzdarbietungen. Bereits als Teenager trat er mit einer „Eisernen Kiefernummer“ in Zirkussen in ganz Europa auf und tourte als Schlagzeuger mit einer Band durch Australien. Nach dem Niedergang des Varietés erhielt Lane zahlreiche Engagements im Filmgeschäft und war damals vor allem für seine Rollen als Inspector John, William Faraday oder Farraday (je nach Film) in allen vierzehn Boston-Blackie-Filmen von Columbia Pictures mit Chester Morris in der Hauptrolle bekannt, beginnend mit „Meet Boston Blackie“ im Jahr 1941. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs trat er als Conférencier mit USO-Truppen auf und unterhielt die US-Soldaten. Seine Einheit gastierte im September 1944 in Fort MacArthur. Lane war außerdem Ansager beim Jalopy Derby und Destruction Derby im Ascot Park in Gardena, Kalifornien. Lane sprach Faraday auch in der ersten Radiofassung von Boston Blackie, die vom 23. Juni bis zum 15. September 1944 auf NBC ausgestrahlt wurde.
