Franklin James Schaffner war ein US-amerikanischer Regisseur. Er gewann den Oscar für die beste Regie für „Patton“ (1970) und ist außerdem bekannt für die Filme „Planet der Affen“ (1968), „Nicholas und Alexandra“ (1971), „Papillon“ (1973) und „The Boys from Brazil“ (1978). Von 1987 bis 1989 war er Präsident der Directors Guild of America.
