Der Kandidat (1964)
William Russell, ein Mann von intellektuellem Format, vermögend, als früherer Außenminister bereits politisch erfolgreich, hat die besten Chancen, als Präsidentschaftskandidat der Demokratischen Partei nominiert zu werden. Von den übrigen Bewerbern ist eigentlich nur Senator Cantwell ernstzunehmen. Russell spürt allerdings, dass der kranke Präsident Hackstadter eher dazu neigt, sich für Cantwell auszusprechen, weil er Russell nicht die Entschlossenheit zutraut, die für das höchste politische Amt der USA nötig ist...
