Catherine Zeta-Jones, CBE, (geboren am 25. September 1969) ist eine walisische Schauspielerin. Ihre Karriere auf der Bühne begann sie schon in jungen Jahren. Nachdem sie in einer Reihe von Fernsehfilmen des Vereinigten Königreichs und der Vereinigten Staaten und kleinen Rollen in Filmen mitgewirkt hatte, wurde sie mit Rollen in Hollywood-Filmen wie dem Actionfilm The Mask of Zorro von 1998 und dem Krimi-Film Drapment von 1999 bekannt. Ihre bahnbrechende Rolle war im Jahr 2000 der Film Traffic, für den sie ihre erste Golden Globe Award Nominierung als beste Nebendarstellerin - Motion Picture erhielt. Zeta-Jones spielte anschließend als Velma Kelly in der 2002 verfilmten Verfilmung des Musicals Chicago, einem kritischen und kommerziellen Erfolg, und erhielt einen Oscar, BAFTA Award, einen Screen Actors Guild Award und wurde für den Golden Globe Award als beste Schauspielerin - Motion Picture Musical oder Comedy - nominiert. Später trat sie in den romantischen Komödienfilmen Intolerable Cruelty 2003 und Ocean's Twelve 2004 auf. Zeta-Jones gewann die weibliche Hauptrolle in der Fortsetzung des Films The Legend of Zorro aus dem Jahr 1998. Sie spielte auch in dem romantischen Biopic-Thriller Death Defying Acts 2008. Für ihre Darstellung von Desiree in A Little Night Music gewann sie 2010 den Tony Award als beste Hauptdarstellerin in einem Musical.
