Bekannt ist er vor allem durch seine Rolle als Dr. James Wilson in der Fernsehserie Dr. House und seine Hauptrollen in den Spielfilmen Der Club der toten Dichter (1989; Rolle des Neil Perry) und Swing Kids (1993).
