Melanie Richards Griffith (* 9. August 1957 in New York City) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Das erste Mal stand sie im Alter von nur 12 Jahren in Smith! – Ein Mann gegen alle (1969) vor der Kamera. Ihre erste größere Rolle erhielt sie 1975 im Film Die heiße Spur. Im Jahr 1977 zeigte sie sich in dem Film „Garten der Zuflucht“ unbekleidet. In den späten 1980ern und frühen 1990ern gehörte sie zu den größten Stars in Hollywood und drehte unter der Regie von Abel Ferrara, Brian De Palma, Jonathan Demme, Robert Redford, Mike Figgis, Mike Nichols und John Schlesinger.
