The Disaster Artist (2017)
Tommy Wiseau und Greg Sestero lernen sich in einer Schauspielschule kennen und werden über ihre gemeinsame Bewunderung für James Dean und ihren geteilten Traum von einer Karriere in Hollywood schnell Freunde. Greg bewundert Tommy für seine Furchtlosigkeit auf der Bühne und dafür, dass er niemals aufgibt, allerdings wird den beiden schnell klargemacht, dass sie keine Chancen auf eine Schauspielkarriere haben. Da kommt ihnen eine Idee: Warum nicht einfach einen eigenen Film drehen? Tommy schreibt das Drehbuch, kauft von seinem eigenen Geld das nötige Equipment und heuert eine Filmcrew an – und schon kann die Produktion beginnen. Doch schnell stellt sich heraus, dass Tommy, der Hauptdarsteller, Produzent, Regisseur und Autor in Personalunion ist, keine Ahnung vom Filmemachen hat, was aber nicht bedeutet, dass er sich vom erfahrenen Script Supervisor Sandy Schklair der einzigen Stimme der Vernunft, reinreden ließe…
