Sterling Walter Hayden (geboren als Sterling Relyea Walter) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Autor, Seemann und Marine. Während des Großteils seiner Karriere war er Hauptdarsteller und spezialisierte sich in den 1950er Jahren auf Western und Film Noir, in Filmen wie Asphalt-Dschungel (1950), Johnny Guitar (1954) und Stanley Kubricks The Killing (1956). In den 1960er Jahren wurde er für Nebenrollen bekannt, am einprägsamsten vielleicht als General Jack D. Ripper in Dr. Seltsam oder: Wie ich lernte, die Bombe zu lieben (1964).
