Fay Wray, geboren als Vina Fay Wray, war eine kanadisch-amerikanische Schauspielerin. In ihrer 57-jährigen Karriere erlangte sie internationale Berühmtheit als Darstellerin in Horrorfilmen und gilt daher als eine der ersten „Scream Queens“. Nach kleineren Filmrollen wurde Wray als eine der „WAMPAS Baby Stars“ ausgewählt und erlangte dadurch mediale Aufmerksamkeit. Dies führte dazu, dass sie bereits als Teenagerin bei Paramount Pictures unter Vertrag genommen wurde und in über einem Dutzend Filmen mitwirkte. Nach ihrem Ausscheiden bei Paramount unterzeichnete sie Verträge mit verschiedenen Filmfirmen und erhielt ihre ersten Horrorfilmrollen. Für RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. spielte sie die Hauptrolle in dem Film, für den sie am bekanntesten ist: King Kong (1933). Nach dem Erfolg von King Kong übernahm Wray weitere kleinere Filmrollen und war im Fernsehen zu sehen, bis sie 1980 ihre letzte Rolle spielte.
