1933 wagten sich Merian C. Cooper und Ernest B. Schoedsack, zwei kühne und visionäre Regisseure, an einen Film, der alles bis dahin Dagewesene in den Schatten stellte. Als „King Kong“ in die Kinos kam, wurde er als künstlerische und technische Revolution gefeiert und wurde zum ersten Mythos der jungen Kinokunst.
