Herbert Anderson (30. März 1917 – 11. Juni 1994) war ein US-amerikanischer Charakterdarsteller, der vor allem für seine Rolle als Henry Mitchell, der Vater in der CBS-Fernsehserie „Dennis the Menace“, bekannt ist. Nach einigen kleineren Rollen in Warner-Bros.-Filmen gelang Anderson 1941 mit dem Film „Navy Blues“ der Durchbruch, gefolgt von „The Body Disappears“ und „The Male Animal“. Zu seinen weiteren Filmen zählen der Weltkriegsfilm „Battleground“ (1949), „Give My Regards to Broadway“, „Excuse My Dust“, „Island in the Sky“, „The Benny Goodman Story“, „Kelly and Me“, „Joe Butterfly“, „My Man Godfrey“ (1957), „I Bury the Living“, „Sunrise at Campobello“, „Hold On!“ und „Rascal“. Anderson spielte auch häufig am Broadway, unter anderem die Rolle des Dr. Bird in „The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial“. Er wirkte auch in der Verfilmung von „The Caine Mutiny“ mit; er ist der einzige Schauspieler, der sowohl im Broadway-Stück als auch im Film zu sehen war. Neben seiner Rolle in „Dennis“, dem Lausbuben, ist Anderson auch für zahlreiche Haupt- und Gastrollen im Fernsehen bekannt. Anderson zog sich 1982 von der Schauspielerei zurück. Er starb 1994 an den Folgen eines Schlaganfalls.
