James Clavell, geboren als Charles Edmund Dumaresq Clavell (10. Oktober 1924 – 7. September 1994), war ein australischer (später eingebürgerter amerikanischer) Schriftsteller, Drehbuchautor, Regisseur und Veteran des Zweiten Weltkriegs sowie Kriegsgefangener. Clavell ist vor allem für seine epische Romanreihe „Asien-Saga“ und deren Fernsehverfilmungen sowie für Filme wie „Gesprengte Ketten“ und „To Sir, with Love“ bekannt.
