Kalpen Suresh Modi (* 23. April 1977) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Autor, Komiker und ehemaliger Mitarbeiter des Weißen Hauses unter Präsident Obama. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine Rolle als Kumar Patel in der „Harold & Kumar“-Filmreihe. Weitere bekannte Rollen spielte er als Lawrence Kutner in der Fernsehserie „Dr. House“, als Mitarbeiter des Weißen Hauses, Seth Wright, in „Designated Survivor“, als Kevin in „How I Met Your Mother“ und als Nikhil Ganguli in dem Film „The Namesake“ (2006). Anfang 2009 wurde Penn die Position des stellvertretenden Direktors des Büros für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und intergouvernementale Angelegenheiten im Weißen Haus angeboten, die er annahm. Dies führte dazu, dass seine Figur Lawrence Kutner aus der Serie „Dr. House“ herausgeschrieben wurde. 2020 veröffentlichte Penn seine Memoiren mit dem Titel „You Can't Be Serious“. Im Zuge der Promotion für sein Buch gab er seine Verlobung mit seinem langjährigen Partner Josh bekannt.
