Wesley Wales Anderson (* 1. Mai 1969) ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmemacher. Seine Filme sind für ihre Symmetrie, Exzentrizität und ihren unverwechselbaren visuellen und narrativen Stil bekannt und einige Kritiker bezeichnen ihn als modernes Beispiel eines Autorenfilmers. Drei seiner Filme, Die Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) und Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), wurden 2016 in der Umfrage von BBC Culture zu den besten Filmen seit 2000 aufgeführt. Anderson wurde für Die Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) und Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) für den Oscar für das beste Originaldrehbuch nominiert, sowie für den Oscar für den besten Animationsfilm für die Stop-Motion-Filme Der fantastische Mr. Fox (2009) und Isle of Dogs (2018). Für „Grand Budapest Hotel“ erhielt er seine ersten Oscar-Nominierungen für die beste Regie und den besten Film und gewann den Golden Globe Award für den besten Film – Musical oder Komödie und den BAFTA Award für das beste Originaldrehbuch.
