Harry Julius Shearer (* 23. Dezember 1943) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Komiker, Musiker, Radiomoderator, Autor und Produzent. Geboren in Los Angeles, Kalifornien, begann Shearer seine Karriere als Kinderdarsteller. Von 1969 bis 1976 war er Mitglied der Radio-Comedy-Gruppe „The Credibility Gap“. Nach der Auflösung der Gruppe schrieb Shearer zusammen mit Albert Brooks das Drehbuch zum Film „Real Life“ (1979) und arbeitete als Autor an Martin Mulls Fernsehserie „Fernwood 2 Night“. Shearer war von 1979 bis 1980 und von 1984 bis 1985 festes Mitglied der Comedy-Show „Saturday Night Live“. Er war Co-Autor, Co-Schöpfer und Co-Star des erfolgreichen satirischen Rockdokumentarfilms „This Is Spinal Tap“ (1984). 1989 stieß er zum Sprecherensemble der Zeichentrickserie „Die Simpsons“ hinzu und lieh Figuren wie Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Lenny Leonard, Kang, Direktor Skinner, Kent Brockman, Otto Mann, Scratchy und ehemals Dr. Hibbert seine Stimme. Shearer wirkte in Filmen wie „Die Truman Show“ (1998) und „A Mighty Wind“ (2003) mit und führte bei zwei Filmen Regie: „Teddy Bears' Picnic“ (2002) und „The Big Uneasy“ (2010). Seit 1983 moderiert Shearer die Comedy- und Musiksendung „Le Show“ im öffentlich-rechtlichen Radio, in der er Satire, Musik und Sketch-Comedy vereint. Er hat drei Bücher geschrieben. Shearer wurde mit einem Primetime Emmy Award ausgezeichnet und erhielt zahlreiche weitere Emmy- und Grammy-Nominierungen. Seit 1993 ist er mit der Singer-Songwriterin Judith Owen verheiratet. Im Jahr 2013 wurde er zum Artist in Residence an der Loyola University in New Orleans ernannt.
