Richard Edson (* 1. Januar 1954) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Musiker. Er wurde in New Rochelle, New York, in eine jüdische Familie geboren. 1979 war Edson Gründungsmitglied der San Franciscoer Art-Rock-Band The Alterboys, zusammen mit Snuky Tate, Tono Rondone, Richard Kelly und JC Garrett. Er spielte Schlagzeug und Trompete. Von 1981 bis 1982 war er der ursprüngliche Schlagzeuger von Sonic Youth und spielte gleichzeitig Schlagzeug für Konk. Nach der Veröffentlichung der selbstbetitelten Debüt-EP von Sonic Youth verließ Edson die Band, um sich ganz Konk zu widmen. Außerdem spielte Edson Trompete bei der San Franciscoer Band The Offs auf deren gleichnamigem Album von 1984. Seine Schauspielkarriere begann er 1984 mit dem Spielfilm „Stranger Than Paradise“. Seitdem ist er bekannt für seine Rollen in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), Do The Right Thing (1989), Super Mario Bros. (1993) und Strange Days (1995).
