Karen Jane Allen (* 5. Oktober 1951 in Carrollton, Illinois) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Im Jahr 1978 gab Allen ihr Filmdebüt in der Komödie Ich glaub, mich tritt ein Pferd (OT: Animal House) an der Seite von John Belushi. Für diese Rolle bekam sie eine Gage in Höhe von 3.000 US-Dollar. Ein Jahr später spielte sie eine kleine Rolle in der romantischen Komödie Manhattan des Regisseurs Woody Allen sowie eine Nebenrolle in dem Spielfilm The Wanderers von Philip Kaufman. Ihre erste Hauptrolle spielte sie in dem Drama Unter guten Freunden aus dem Jahr 1980. Die 1980er-Jahre gelten als Höhepunkt ihrer Schauspielkarriere. Einem breiten Kinopublikum wurde sie 1981 an der Seite von Harrison Ford in Steven Spielbergs erstem Indiana-Jones-Film Jäger des verlorenen Schatzes bekannt und erhielt dafür 1982 den Saturn Award für die beste Hauptdarstellerin. Im Jahr 1982 gab Allen in dem Theaterstück The Monday After the Miracle ihr Debüt am Broadway und gewann im darauffolgenden Jahr den Theatre World Award als beste neue Schauspielerin (Best New Actress). Für die Rolle der Jenny Hayden in dem Abenteuerfilm Starman (1984) erhielt sie 1985 eine Nominierung als beste Schauspielerin (Saturn Award). 1987 spielte Allen in dem Drama Die Glasmenagerie unter der Regie von Paul Newman mit. Der Film brachte ihr neben den guten Kritiken auch mehrere Nominierungen (1988 für den Independent Spirit Award und Sant Jordi Award) ein. Bis 1990 spielte sie in fünf weiteren Filmen mit (u. a. in dem Romantikfilm Liebe ohne Ausweg und dem Fantasyfilm Die Geister, die ich rief). Seit der Geburt ihres ersten Kindes nahm sie nur noch kleinere TV-Rollen (u. a.
