Frankie Darro (22. Dezember 1917 – 25. Dezember 1976) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Geboren in eine Showbusiness-Familie – seine Eltern waren Zirkusartisten – gab Darro sein Filmdebüt im Alter von sechs Jahren. Aufgrund seiner geringen Körpergröße und seines jugendlichen Aussehens spielte er bis weit in seine Zwanziger Teenager. Als körperlich präsenter Darsteller führte Darro oft seine Stunts selbst aus, häufig aus der Not heraus – seine geringe Größe erschwerte es, Stuntdoubles seiner Größe zu finden. Er war ein versierter Reiter und drehte neben Western auch mehrere Filme, in denen er Jockeys verkörperte. 1933 spielte er die Hauptrolle eines problembelasteten Teenagers in dem Warner-Brothers-Film „Wild Boys of the Road“. Der Film entstand vor dem Hays Code und bietet einen realistischen Einblick in die Zeit der Großen Depression aus der Perspektive der damaligen Jugend. Dieser Film scheint erst vor Kurzem wiederentdeckt worden zu sein und wurde von der Kritik hochgelobt. Im selben Jahr spielte er einen problembelasteten Jugendlichen in James Cagneys Klassiker „Der Bürgermeister der Hölle“. Später, im Jahr 1935, hatte er eine wichtige Rolle in dem Kult-Serienklassiker „Das Phantomreich“. Mit zunehmendem Alter fiel es Darro jedoch immer schwerer, Arbeit zu finden, und Ende der 1940er-Jahre arbeitete er ungenannt als Stuntman und übernahm kleinere Rollen. Er hatte eine wiederkehrende Rolle in der „Red Skelton Hour“ (1951), von seinen Fans jedoch weitgehend unbekannt. Außerdem spielte er „Robby den Roboter“ in dem bahnbrechenden Science-Fiction-Film „Alarm im Weltraum“ (1956), dessen Stimme allerdings von Marvin Miller, besser bekannt als Michael Anthony aus der Fernsehserie „Wer wird Millionär?“ (1955–1960), gesprochen wurde. Danach trat Frankie nur noch sporadisch in Filmen und im Fernsehen auf.
