Danny Kaye (geboren als David Daniel Kaminsky) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Komiker, Sänger und Tänzer. Seine Auftritte zeichneten sich durch Slapstick, eigenwillige Pantomimen und rasante, humorvolle Lieder aus. Kaye spielte in 23 Filmen mit, darunter die bekannten Titel „Mein zauberhafter Bruder“ (1945), „Der Held des Tages“ (1946), „Das erstaunliche Leben des Walter Mitty“ (1947), „Die sündige Stadt“ (1949), „Hans Christian Andersen und die Tänzerin“ (1952), „Weiße Weihnachten“ (1954) und „Der Hofnarr“ (1955). Seine Filme waren populär, insbesondere wegen seiner mitreißenden Lieder und Klassiker wie „Inchworm“ und „Das hässliche Entlein“. Er war 1954 der erste UNICEF-Botschafter im Range eines Sonderbotschafters und erhielt 1986 für seine jahrelange Arbeit für die Organisation die französische Ehrenlegion.
